What is Phishing?(The Spear One) 

Spear phishing is for a small number of people attacked (the user of a website, a company employee, a member of an organization), to undermine the purpose of a company or organization.

 Getting into it

So you guys must be well aware of the term what is phishing, now I am gonna shed some light on the ways which are usually adopted for Phishing purpose.

Thinking to try, Don't you even dare to think, its is considered a heinous crime in today's digital world, anyways lets come to the talk of the time. What is Phishing,I
am done with it but wait the game is not over yet, little knowledge is always dangerous so we try finding out how it is done.



Phishing Techniques

 1.SOCIAL ENGINEERING: 

Social engineering - the use of human weaknesses, through deception intrusion attack a computer system. Organizations may take a very comprehensive technical security controls, such as: authentication systems, firewalls, encryption technology, but because of the staff unintentionally leak of confidential information (passwords, IP address, etc.) via telephone or e-mail, or illegally deceiving staff, the organization's confidential information is leaked. It could can serious damage to the organization. Common social engineering means a telephone fraud, spam and other search and shoulder surfing.


2.NETWORK PASS(pharming)/DNS POISONING: 

Domain Name System(DNS) are used to resolve domain IP address and a Computer is networked via DNS(Domain Name Systems). The attacker by modifying the HOST SYSTEM FILES() or exploiting the DNS service can make the victim redirect to fake website/page. In recent years, a large number of phishing URLs passed and stole users identity information, especially for e-commerce and online banking. What makes it more harmful is that is not detected by Anti-Viruses and Spywares.

 It will  not worth it if we only know What is Phishing,real bliss would be protect our self from it,lets come to the solutions.


How to Protect Yourself from Phishing? 

If you are a IE(Internet Explorer) user, follow these instructions 
1.open the IE Phishing Filter in Internet Explorer.
2.click “Tools” button 3.click “Phishing Filter”.
 4.click “Turn on Automatic Website Checking.”.
5. Select the “Turn on Automatic Phishing Filter” and then click “OK”.

If you are using any other browser then follow 
1. Never provide personal information in e-mail, instant message or pop-up window. 
2. Do not click on e-mail and instant messages from strangers or all of the links in the link looks suspicious. Because even messages from friends and family may also be forged, so please confirm with the sender whether they really sent a message. 
3. Use only provides privacy statement or how they will use the relevant information on the website of your personal information. 
4. Regularly check the financial statements and credit history and report any suspicious activity. 
7. Keep Windows and Internet Explorer up to date.
